HONOURS FOR DRAMA
Finnegan Harold (Year 12 Cameron House)
Finn has demonstrated outstanding commitment to Drama and the Performing Arts at Scotch College since his first production in Year 6. He brought enthusiasm and energy to rehearsals, embracing every aspect of the experience.
Finn has played a diverse range of roles. In Treasure Island, he learnt a huge number of lines, arguably the most ever in a Scotch production. He provided a strong role model for his peers, thereby raising the standard of the production, excelled in mentoring the younger students and increased the profile of Drama at the College.
As Drama Captain, Finn went above and beyond expectations, supporting students at auditions, promoting Drama at assemblies, leading the Scotch College team in the PSA Theatre Sports Competition and taking on a variety of roles at Arts Day. He embodied the values of Drama at Scotch, which is to strive for excellence as a team, encourage and support others and embrace a challenge.
Finn is a worthy recipient of Honours for his service to Drama.
HONOURS FOR DRAMA
Oliver Hayers (Year 12 Ross House)
Oliver has embraced every opportunity to perform in Scotch and PLC productions since Year 7. He is an actor who thrives on creative risk-taking and experimentation. Oliver will completely transform physically and vocally, rendering him virtually unrecognisable on stage. From serious dramas to comedy and musical theatre, Oliver has excelled in all genres of theatre, proving his versatility as an actor, and commitment to extending his range.
Oliver maintained a disciplined and professional approach to rehearsal and role preparation as a performer and a leader. He was a strong role model through his dedication to delivering outstanding performances, collaborative spirit, and humble service.
Oliver also played an integral role in raising the profile of Drama at Scotch over the years. From Theatre Sports to Arts Day and most notably as Assistant Director for the 2022 Middle School Production where he gave creative input and coached students to improve their performance, with great enthusiasm and professionalism.
Congratulations to Oliver on receiving Honours for his achievement in Drama.
HONOURS FOR FOOTBALL
Bailey Banfield (Year 12 Keys House)
Bailey debuted in the 1st XVIII Football team in 2021. His strong season in 2022 cemented his position as a crucial team member, playing forward and midfield.
In 2023 Bailey was Co-Vice Captain and his leadership at training, meetings and on tour was of a very high standard, always setting a great example for others.
Bailey was a dominant midfield player. His ability to bring others into the game and his fierce attack on the ball saw him rarely beaten in one-on-one contests. Across the competition, he ranked #1 in hard ball gets, #2 in clearances, #3 in disposals and score involvements and #1 for inside 50’s. Bailey worked tirelessly in a defensive capacity, also ranking #4 in tackles.
Bailey won the Cyril Hoft Medal with 57 ranking points which gave him an average of 4.75 out of six per game. Beyond the College, Bailey played in the Claremont Colts team, playing in the Grand Final to become a premiership Colts player.
Bailey is congratulated on receiving Honours for Football.

HONOURS FOR PIPE BAND
Alexander (Alex) Pigneguy (Year 12 Ferguson House)
Alex joined the Pipe Band in 2018 and completed three years as a member of the A Team, far exceeding expectations. To date he has participated in 97 engagements including 24 as a soloist.
Alex’s piping is of a very high standard. He would be graded Intermediate in the Australian Pipe Band College and performs pieces of advanced time signatures, a precursor for a Grade 2 Pipe Band or above.
In addition to organising the Pipe Band harmony and arrangements, Alex successfully introduced a Lincoln Hilton Pipe Band Suite entitled Dollar Sunrise to the A Team which is currently performed.
Alex performed faultlessly on the world stage at the Virginia International Tattoo.
In 2023, he was appointed Pipe Major in recognition of his fantastic attitude and strong leadership qualities. He has been an exemplary role model, consistently completing tasks without direction and with a quiet and measured approach.
Alex is highly deserving of the award of Honours for Pipe Band.
HONOURS FOR PIPE BAND
Ryan Shine (Year 12 Alexander House)
Ryan joined the Pipe Band in 2017 and completed three years as a member of the A Team, far exceeding expectations. To date he has participated in 116 engagements including 36 as a soloist.
Ryan’s piping is of a very high standard. He would be graded Sub-Intermediate in the Australian Pipe Band College and performs pieces of advanced time signatures, a precursor for a Grade 2 Pipe Band or above.
Ryan was appointed Pipe Sergeant in 2023. In this role, he demonstrated a fantastic attitude, provided strong leadership and was an excellent role model, completing all tasks independently.
Recently Ryan was successful in auditioning for the Virginia International Tattoo and his conduct and contribution throughout this experience was impeccable.
Ryan’s genuine love for the bagpipes, the Pipe Band and performing is second to none and his achievements have been above and beyond expectations.
Ryan is commended on being awarded Honours for his service to the Pipe Band.
HONOURS FOR PUBLIC SPEAKING (DEBATING)
Robert Eastman, Year 12 Anderson House
Robert has been involved in Debating since Year 7 in the Philippines and was selected as the best delegate in the Model United Nations debating event in Singapore. Since commencing debating at Scotch College he has been an integral member of the team, competing in the WADL Schools’ Debating and Philosothon competitions.
Robert is a formidable third speaker, requiring thorough knowledge of all sides of a topic and the ability to succinctly identify key themes, supplement his argument with examples and clearly structure a rebuttal under significant time pressure.
Robert’s achievements and passion for debating saw him selected as Co-Captain of Debating. He actively promoted team building and increased coordination between the Middle and Senior School debating teams through sessions designed to extend other students’ abilities. Robert raised the profile of debating at the College through the Studio Scotch podcast and his involvement in the PSA Scotch Model United Nations event.
Robert is a deserving recipient of Honours for his achievement in Debating.
HONOURS FOR RUGBY
Hugh Chapman, Year 12 Anderson House
Hugh was selected for the First XV in Year 10 and from his first game it became clear he was a very special player.
He has become revered for the ferocity of his defensive tackles and clean outs. This year Hugh was undoubtedly the strongest ball carrying forward in the competition and was instrumental in the success of the Scotch College side. In recognition of his contribution to Rugby at the College, Hugh was named Most Valued Player in the Firsts for the second year running.
Beyond the PSA competition, Hugh’s ability was recognised through his selection for the WA Central Zone Rep team in both Year 10 and 11. He played against the Northern and Southern Zone Squads and was subsequently awarded Player of the Tournament.
Hugh was selected for the WA Under 16 Rugby Team and played in the National Under 16 Rugby Championships. He was also a member of the Rugby WA Academy.
Hugh is congratulated on receiving Honours for Rugby.
HONOURS FOR RUGBY
Billy Turnbull, Year 12 Cameron House
Billy is a rare player whose physical capacity, skills and mindset warranted his selection in the Rugby First XV each season since Year 10.
Billy’s contribution to the Scotch programme and the PSA competition has been considerable and he has been a dominant force on the field. His leadership as Captain has been superb and he was instrumental in the College winning the Brother Redmond Cup.
Billy’s ability was recognised through his selection for the WA Central Zone Under 16 Team to play against Northern and Southern Zone Rep sides, whilst a year younger than the intake age. The following year he was selected into the WA Under 16 Team.
This year Billy gained selection into the WA Under 18 State Squad and the Western Force Under 19 Academy.
Throughout this time, Billy has maintained his commitment to playing Club Rugby, representing the Cottesloe Open Men’s Grade Team at Premiership level, a remarkable achievement.
Billy is a thoroughly deserving recipient of Honours for Rugby.
