Hayden Henschel, Year 12 Stuart
Hayden is without doubt one of the most talented cricketers to have represented Scotch College in the cricket programme in recent years. His performance in the First team throughout his final PSA season was nothing short of exceptional and saw him achieve a total of 513 runs, including two centuries and a batting average of 42.75 over 12 matches. Hayden also played wicketkeeper for seven of the 12 matches.
In recognition of his leadership capabilities within the cricket programme, Hayden was voted by his peers as Captain of the side for the duration of his Year 12 season.
Whilst maintaining his responsibilities to the College, Hayden’s achievements in Cricket beyond the school included being selected to represent Western Australia in the Under 17 team at the Australian Cricket Championships.
Hayden is congratulated on his achievement of Honours for Cricket.

Thomas has made an exceptional contribution to the rowing programme throughout 2023, proving himself to be one of the best rowers the Boat Shed has produced in recent years. He was stroke of the First VIII at the Head of the River, ranked number one in the two-kilometre ergo throughout the season and consistently demonstrated excellence in his attitude towards training. Thomas possesses all the physical and mental attributes required to achieve at an elite level, coupled with a high degree of technical skill, strength, power and endurance.
Based on his performance throughout the PSA season, Thomas was selected for the WA State Pathway Squad. Following further intensive testing, he was ranked as a top four schoolboy rower and was selected for the WA State VIII crew which won a silver medal at the State Pathway Regatta in Penrith, NSW.
Thomas is a thoroughly deserving recipient of Honours for Rowing.

Stewart has made an outstanding contribution to the sailing programme over six years. In Year 8 he crewed in the National Sailing Regatta in Tasmania before quickly advancing to the position of skipper of the First team in 2022 and 2023, achieving back-to-back victories for the College in the State Sailing Regatta. Stewart’s performance and sportsmanship have been singled out by other competitors and race officials as exemplary.
Beyond the College, Stewart was selected for the WAIS Sailing Squad in 2022 and highlights have included placing equal first in the State Radial Laser Championships in 2022. In both 2022 and 2023, Stewart placed fourth in the National Radial Laser Under 19 Championships and was the highest placed Western Australian in both competitions. He will represent Australia in the World Youth Laser Radial Championships and at the European Youth Laser Radial Championships, both in Poland, later this year.

Giacomo Helliar, Year 12 Stuart
Giacamo’s contribution to the sailing programme has been exemplary since he joined as a Year 7 student. His leadership skills were recognised through his appointment as Captain of Sailing for his final season and have led to the creation of a mature and bonded team which has dominated the State Schools’ Sailing Racing scene in recent years.
Giacamo has consistently modelled outstanding yachtsmanship and sportsmanship and this has been noted by members across the state yachting community. Despite his impressive achievements he has consistently demonstrated humility and he is held in the highest regard by all members of the squad.
Beyond the College, Giacamo is a member of the WAIS Sailing Squad and his many and varied achievements have included placing first in the 2022 Western Australian Laser Championships and fifth in the 2023 Oceania and Australian Youth Sailing Championship (Laser Class).
Giacamo is a thoroughly deserving recipient of Honours for Sailing.

Daniel has been an outstanding leader within the Scotch College swimming programme. At the 2023 PSA Inter-School Swimming Carnival he won the Division 1 100m Freestyle and 50m Fly events and the Division 2 50m Backstroke event and was the top open scorer in the PSA competition. He holds the School Record for 50m Butterfly in the Open Division.
Beyond the PSA competition, Daniel is the State Champion in 50m, 100m and 200m Butterfly. At the 2022 National Swimming Championships he won bronze in the 100m Butterfly, silver in the 200m Butterfly and was a finalist in the 50m Butterfly. In 2023 Daniel won silver in the 100m Butterfly and was a finalist in the 50m and 200m Butterfly.
In 2023, Daniel was voted Captain of Swimming in recognition of his commitment, passion and leadership within the swimming programme.

Sebastian has played in the Firsts Water Polo team since Year 9, when he contributed to the squad winning the prestigious Dickinson Shield. His commitment, leadership, performance and exemplary sportsmanship have shone throughout this time and as Captain of the 2023 side, he was named Most Valuable Player.
Beyond the PSA competition, Sebastian has achieved numerous accomplishments. Having earned the Fairest and Best award in the state competition, his talent caught the attention of selectors and saw him included in the Australian Cadet squad. He captained the Under 16 team and represented Western Australia at the National State Championships. This year, Sebastian earned a train-on opportunity with the Fremantle Mariners and made his debut in the Australia Men’s Water Polo League with the Adelaide Jets.
We thank Sebastian for his contribution to the programme and congratulate him on receiving Honours for Water Polo.
