Kieran is a dedicated performer who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to Drama and the Performing Arts at the College since his first production in Year 7. His remarkable professionalism, dedication and collaborative spirit when rehearsing and performing proved him to be a reliable and compassionate leader and role model for the younger students.
Kieran has played a diverse range of leading and supporting roles in numerous College productions. Additionally, he served as a student director behind the scenes of the 2020 Middle School Production which demanded significant organization, diligence and problem-solving skills.
As Drama Captain, Kieran went above and beyond expectations, supporting students at auditions, promoting Drama at assemblies and leading the Scotch College team to victory in the Christ Church Grammar Theatre Sports Competition. In the Laramie Project he demonstrated great tenacity, portraying a significant number of diverse characters with an intimidating number of lines to memorise, whilst providing excellent support to others.

His strong oratory skills and recognition of the nuances of arguments saw him selected for the Firsts team in Years 10, 11 and 12 and he will, this evening, contest the 2021 Grand Final of the competition.
Heath successfully trialled for the WA State Debating Team in 2020 and 2021 after showcasing his ability to adapt quickly to the requirements of each role, his extensive current affairs knowledge and his understanding of the principles and practicalities of the topics.
Heath generally takes the role of first speaker, confidently delivering his substantive argument to establish the team’s argument. His clearly structured rebuttal is delivered calmly, undermining the opposition while strengthening his own team’s case.
Heath participated in British Parliamentary debating since Year 10, demonstrating his flexibility in the public speaking arena and winning the Grand Final in 2019 and 2020.
Heath’s success and willingness to share his skills saw him selected as Co-Captain of Debating in 2021.

Honours for Achievement in Debating
Benjamin Scott (Year 12 Ross House)
Benjamin has been involved in Debating since Year 7 and was Co-Captain of Debating in 2021. He has represented the College in the Firsts team in the WA Debating League in Years 10, 11 and 12 and, this evening, will contest the 2021 Grand Final of the competition.
Benjamin was selected for the WA State Debating Team in Years 10, 11 and 12, Captaining the team in the national competition in 2020 and 2021. He was one of five students to represent Australia in the World Schools’ Debating Competition in both 2020 and 2021. This year the team advanced to the double-octo-finals.
Benjamin generally takes the largely impromptu role of third speaker, requiring thorough knowledge of all sides of a debate topic and the other speakers’ content. His aptitude for debating is demonstrated by his ability to formulate several minutes of unrehearsed rebuttal, clearly determining the key concepts presented and structuring his rebuttal around these themes.
Benjamin has participated in British Parliamentary debating since Year 10, with his team winning the Grand Final in 2019 and 2020. Furthermore, Ben was named Best Speaker both years.
Benjamin is congratulated on receiving Honours for Achievement in Debating.
