Boys’ Achievements – 23 April 2021
Edward Allan (Year 12 Ross), Daniel Curtin (Year 11 Stuart) and Elijah Hewett (Year 12 Alexander) have been selected in the State Under 17 Football Squad.
Simon Arnott (Year 12 Ross), Benjamin Nixon (Year 12 Ross), Thomas (Tom) Lynch (Year 12 Brisbane) and Bradley Avery (Year 12 Cameron) were selected for the Under 18 Rugby State Team.
Billy Turnbull (Year 10 Cameron), Hayden Henschel (Year 10 Stuart), Hugh Chapman (Year 10 Anderson) and Thomas Macknay (Year 11 Ferguson) were selected in the Under 16 Rugby Team.
Mitchell Hyde (Year 11 Stuart) and Xavier Graham (Year 11 Keys) have been selected in the School Sports WA 16 Years and Under Schoolboys Hockey Team.
Ruan van der Riet (Year 12 Ross) competed in the Australian Swimming Age Championships in Queensland over the break, placing second in the 200m Butterfly and third in the 400m Individual Medley in the 17 Years Age Group. Ruan stayed on to compete in the Australian Championships and finished eighth in the final of the Open 200m Butterfly.
The WA Life Saving and Rescue Championships and the WA Surf Lifesaving Championships were held just before the end of last term. Tex Cross (Year 9 Anderson) represented North Cottesloe in a pair in the Youth Male Board Rescue, placing first. He also placed second in the Under 14 Iron Man, second in the Board Race and third in the Surf Race. Tex’s North Cottesloe team finished second in the Board Relay. Declan Cook (Year 12 Brisbane) represented Trigg Island as a member of the Under 19 Tube Rescue Team, placing second and he was also a member of the Trigg Island team that placed second in the Under 17 Single Ski Relay.
Heath Muller (Year 12 Ross) and Benjamin Scott (Year 12 Ross) have been selected for the final four person WA team in the National Debating Competition with Benjamin chosen as Captain.
Scotch College placed second in the State Schools Teams Racing Sailing Regatta, with the following boys taking part: Orion Hasluck (Year 7), Erik van de Veire (Year 7), Harrison Pateman (Year 11, Shearer), Daniel Bower (Year 12 Ross), Rafferty Noble Harker (Year 12 Keys), Henry Townes (Year 12 St Andrews) and Harry Williams (Year 12 Anderson).
