Blair Clan – Mid Term Update – Summer Term 2022
Well the school year is underway and it has been a busy start in the Senior School Boarding House (Keys). So far the boys have been great in following the ever changing instructions around COVID-19, with masks to now become a regular thing in the house, I please ask you to be supportive of the decision, if not to make our community safe, then to avoid disruptions to day to day life for our boys and staff.
Here’s what your sons have been up to in boarding:

PSA Sport
- Congratulations to:
- Jamie Bowie, Will Fairclough, Jasper Good, Clem Hardie, Oli Macnamara and Eason Tian who were involved in crews for the Head of the River held on Saturday 26th February. Clem Hardie coxed the 1st VIII, while Eason Tian was in the 2nd VIII.
- It was great to see the number of boarders competing in the Swimming Age Group Championships, Quads and at Inters increase from last year. Jarrad Coppen, Ben Brierley, Harrison Hammond, Coen Livingstone, Oscar Rogers and Ben Simpson were all members of the PSA Inters Swimming team which finished 3rd at the 117th running of the Inters. Special mention to Ben Simpson for his 4th place finish in the Open 50m Div 2 Butterfly and to Jarrad Coppen who was a member of the Winning U15 4 x 50m Freestyle Div 1 Relay team.
- Jaezari Wynne continues to be a part of the 1st V Basketball team, they have had some disappointing results, but have shown some resilience to overturn a 21pt loss against Trinity from round 7 into a 10pt win in Round 10. They currently sit 4th on the ladder with 4 wins and 5 losses.
- Jensen Westerman continues to be a part of the 1st VI Volleyball team. They currently sit in 5th place with a 3 win and 6 loss record.
- Boys have been involved in plenty of sports, with many playing in 2nd’s teams for Basketball, Cricket, Tennis and Water Polo.
Clash of Clans
Our Closed Weekend on the first weekend of term allowed the Boarder’s Council the chance to run a clan game as well as open the pool and a BBQ for dinner. In the all-important Cricket match, Blair 7/95 (8.2 overs) def Stirling 92 (7.3 overs) by 3 wickets.
Boys received their Blair Clan shirt, to wear in Clan Games last week. They look great!

Welcome to Country
Neville Collard, Whadjuk Noongar Elder joined the boarding boys to hold a Welcome to Country ceremony. Scotch College was founded on Whadjuk Noongar Boodjar.
A Welcome to Country (performed by an Aboriginal elder of the traditional custodians, is where visitors are formally welcomed onto their land), it recognises the place of Indigenous people as the first custodians of this land, promotes awareness of the history and culture of Indigenous people and formally acknowledges Indigenous people’s ongoing connection to the land.
Blair Clan Teams Meeting
I will endeavour to host two of these between now and the end of term. One for all parents and one for the year 9 parents. Please keep an eye out for the link via e-mail.
Thanks
