Catering
Chartwells are contracted to supply all our catering requirements here at Scotch. They have been working within schools for many years and have a thorough understanding of what schools require from their catering department.
Outside of School Hours the boys eat all their meals in the College Dining Hall. During school time the boys receive their morning tea and lunch, which is prepared in the Dining Hall, at either the Middle School or Senior School Canteens.
Dining is generally ‘alfresco style’, meaning that the boys may enter the Dining Hall at any time, select their meals from the servery and sit where they like. There is no set time that the boys have to remain within the Dining Hall but our staff do monitor this and at times will request the boys stay seated for a certain period of time.
The evening meal usually consists of two protein options, a vegetarian option and a choice of several different types of vegetables and salads. Of course, dessert is also available after every meal. Our staff are also on the lookout for those boys who sometimes forget to eat their ‘greens’.
Fresh fruit is always available within the Dining Hall, Canteen and Residences and is replaced regularly.
Parents are always invited to join us for dinner in our Dining Hall, a great time to have an informal chat not only with their son/s but also his friends and the staff that look after him. Please feel free to let your Head of Residence know that you are planning to come in for dinner and we will make sure everyone is catered for.

Formal Dining Opportunities
Throughout the year we also expose the boys to different forms of meal settings. This can be in the form of sit down meals where the boys will serve themselves table by table or on some occasions we also ask the catering staff to wait on the boys. The Heads of Residence also make use of the many cafes and restaurants within the area by taking the boys out for breakfast and/or dinner.
Instep and School Excursions
Take away lunches can be made available to all Boarding boys who are required to be away from the school for the day. This may include excursions, INSTEP, work placement or any other school related activity. The boys can organise this themselves through talking to their House Mother or Residential Head of Year.
