- It is also worth looking at this resource from SBS “The Hunting” linked to a 4-part tv drama series. I am keen to explore using this with the Year 9 students next term.
- The boys got along to the Scotch Drama production “Treasure Island” on Wednesday 14th June, it was very entertaining, and I think the boys appreciated something different during Prep.
- It’s been great to see so some of our Year 9 Boarders out helping with the Year 1-12 PSA Sport on a Saturday morning, in particular Lynton Ugle who has helped boundary umpire. They do this just to give back and be active!

- On Friday 9th June 16 of the 20 year 12 boys (including 9 of the 11 Blair Clan boys) spent the night at Amaroo Retreat, kindly hosted by the Westerman’s. We were treated to an amazing charcuterie board, mocktails and dinner consisting of pizza, pasta, salad, croquettes, Char Siu pork. The boys then spent the rest of the night enjoying each other’s company, by the fire pit, in the spa, in the pool and in front of a movie in the Theatre. Mr. Jordan Owenell (Head of Boarding) and myself were in attendance! Thanks so much to Kirstin & Mike Westerman for your hospitality!

The Arts
Drama
Congratulations to Clement Hardie (Year 11) for his involvement as part of the backstage crew in the “Treasure Island” drama production. An amazing production which involved students from Years 9 through to Year 12. Involvement in a drama production requires a commitment of a huge amount of time to the production, a lot of Sunday and evening rehearsals. Congratulations on your involvement in bringing such a story to life on the stage, combining music, singing and acting.
Sport
State Representatives
We would like to congratulate:
- Jayden Clarke as he represents WA at the 15yrs & under Aussie Rules Football National Championship in Ballarat 22nd-29th
- Oscar Male as he represents WA at the 16yrs & under Hockey National Championships in Adelaide 12th-19th
- Jensen Westerman for his selection in the WA Volleyball Under 18 Men’s State Squad.
Claremont Football Club
Congratulations to Jaezari Wynne who made his Claremont Colts debut on Saturday 10th June against Peel Thunder.
Clash of the Clans
We have much work to do after our recent losses in Table Tennis and Volleyball. A great turn out at Boarders Got Talent on Wednesday 28rth June, saw us clinch a good win. Ben Stack & Solomon Short played Wagon Wheel on their guitars, Jasper Good & Oli Macnamara set about trying to throw marshmallows into each other’s mouths, succeeded once and then showed how many they could fit, while Jensen Westerman gave us 4 backflips.
Other News
Ag Day – Friday 9th June
Thanks to all boys and parents for their assistance on the day. Marching as a Boarding fraternity and it was great for our boys to be the centre of attention for a couple of periods!
I’d like to also commend Ben Stack for his involvement in the Acknowledgement of Country dances, click here and here to see them.
Round Square Exchange Students
We had Alex Haberl from the USA earlier this term, and after the mid-term break, we welcomed four boys from Kings Academy in Jordan. Mohammad (year 10) and Ahmad (year 11) into Blair Clan and brothers Rami (year 10) & Sami (year 11) into Stirling Clan. The highlight for the boys was their day trip to Wadjemup (Rottnest) with Mr. Johann Schroeder (Outdoor Education Teacher), but they also enjoyed seeing the sights of Perth, thanks Ms. Kerry Wilhelm!
Year 12 Boarders v PLC Netball Game
On Wednesday 7th June, as part of our Boarding Week some of our boys took on some of the PLC Boarders in a game of Netball on the Chapel lawn. Well done to Ben Brierley, Harry Hammond, Myles Ross & Jensen Westerman for bringing home the win! Thanks to Mrs. Becky Shiel & Ms. Jacqui Langdon for umpiring!
I hope you get to enjoy some solid family time with your sons. It is a great opportunity to have a break, recharge, reset and hit Winter Term in a great mental and physical state.
Thanks
Andy
