Blair Clan – Week 5, Autumn Term 2021
We had the mini lockdown the opening weekend of term. Many thanks to Mr Richard Hales (Head of Stirling Clan) and the Boarding Mentors who kept the boys that stayed on school site entertained with Gaelic Football and Aussie Rules matches as well as a significant ANZAC service on ANZAC Day.
The boys were excellent in their approach to the Premier’s guidelines and should be commended on their adherence to mask wearing rules.

AFL Indigenous Round – Round 6 v Wesley
I’m very proud of our own Raquell Bin Rashid, who designed this year’s AFL Indigenous Round Jersey
Scotch College Indigenous Jumper Design May 2021 Designed by William Wolf and Raquell Bin Rashid
The bottom half of the jumper that we designed shows a group of people gathering around a meeting spot. For this design, the boomerangs and tapping sticks shown in the jumper represent Scotch College’s students, together as a whole community. They are gathered at a meeting place; in this case it is Scotch College. The bottom half is a very key part of our jumper because it shows the close and connected bond that each boy at Scotch shares with the school and it represents the importance of community.
The top half shows multiple blue dots scattered along the blue background of the jumper, covering it. The blue colour we used to symbolise the ocean and the sky, adding more colour into the jumper making it stand out. We’ve also added an Indigenous flag on the collar of the jumper’s interior, to pay respect to all the past and present Indigenous PSA football players. On the back of the jumper, we have used Emu prints running along the bottom. We decided to use this because we wanted to add some culture from the Kimberley region of WA to reflect the large number of Kimberley Indigenous students at Scotch, so we added the iconic Emu tracks.
Blair Clan 1st XVIII Football Players – Coen Livingstone & Raquell Bin Rashid with William Wolf.
1st XV Rugby
I’m also extremely proud of our own Jamayden Chong, who led the 1st XV Rugby team into their Match v Wesley as part of the Indigenous Round, on the hallowed Gamble Field in front of Keys House
Clash of the Clans
Winter sport and COVID-19 lockdowns have meant that Clash of the Clans events have been few and far between. We still “Hold” the trophy.
Other News

Ag Day – Thursday 17th June
Ag Day is the annual celebration of boarding at Scotch College. The boarders use the day as an opportunity to raise much needed funds for the Royal Flying Doctors Service and this year will also be contributing to the Lord Mayor’s Distress Relief Fund for those affected by Tropical Cyclone Seroja. Students celebrate regional WA by enjoying a free dress day, a special lunch and photography displays around campus of our boarders’ homes.
I hope you enjoyed the weekend and some time spent with your sons, if you were able to spend time with them!
I spent the weekend at the South West Hockey Carnival driving a bus and watching these two….
Thanks
Andy
