Year 7: NAPLAN
Year 7 boys completed the NAPLAN online testing in week 3.
As you may have read, The State Government has revealed 40,000 West Australian secondary students had difficulty connecting to online NAPLAN tests, with schools given permission to switch back to pen and paper. Given we were one of those schools affected, our boys if affected were offered the opportunity to repeat their testing by pen and paper.
We were very mindful that NAPLAN, being a necessity, was another of those hurdles the boys were having to jump over in their first year of living away from home. The boys were given respite from homework over the three days and boarding staff provided mindful breaks throughout the afternoon, downtime at night with earlier than normal lights out, and breathing techniques that could be used by the boys when undertaking the testing.
The mood in the house changed significantly once the testing was over and calls for an “END OF NAPLAN” party (for 2019) could be heard coming from the cubies!
