Service Tours
Scotch has developed longstanding partnerships with schools and orphanages in remote Australia, India and Tanzania.
Year 8 boys have an opportunity to travel to participate in an Indigenous Australian cultural tour to the remote East Kimberley region of Western Australia in partnership with Clontarf Kununurra, the Miriuwing and Gajerrong People and Wyndham District High School. During their stay, the boys engage with primary aged students in their classrooms and run sports activities. Boys have an opportunity to learn about traditional aboriginal culture and take part in journeys into the surrounding desert area.
During the tour to India boys spend several days at a mission school where they have an opportunity to use their expertise to develop and deliver learning modules and teaching resources to students and teachers. They also take part in activities such as renovating buildings and playing sport and games with local children. The tour group visits the cities of New Delhi, Agra and Mumbai. Students raise money prior to the tour to purchase materials used during the project and to donate to the places visited.
The Tanzania tour, in partnership with Presbyterian Ladies’ College, travels to Matipwili, a remote rural village north of Dar es Salaam to complete work aimed at improving educational opportunities. For most of one week, students labour alongside local students and village tradesmen. Materials needed for the work are purchased using money fundraised by tour participants. While in Tanzania, the group also climbs Mount Meru and visits a number of National Parks.
