Dwellingup and Peel Inlet – Paddling (canoeing, white water kayaking, sea kayaking)
This expedition is based in the Dwellingup or the Peel Inlet (weather dependent).
You will develop skills in canoeing, white water kayaking and/or sea kayaking. The expedition involves an overnight expedition in canoes and may culminate in descending the grade 3 rapids of the Murray River (water level dependent). Camping will be a combination of dormitories at Moray and tents.
All specialist equipment will be provided by the Outdoor Learning Department.
Students will provide their own meals including breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for this programme with full access to the facilities at Moray including the kitchen and BBQ’s.
Prerequisites
- Students with a known medical condition for example (diabetes, anaphylaxis, asthma) or a recent injury will require a doctors medical clearance and action plan.
- Fitness capacity to paddle for 6 hours per day for 5 days is essential.
- Comfortable with water and exiting a capsized craft.
- Can easily swim 200m.
