Junior School
The Scotch College Outdoor Education Programme begins in Junior School, it is designed to encourage a sense of wonder and custodianship. The boys will develop basic camping skills and for some it is their first night away from home. Some classroom sessions are completed before programme to help prepare the boys.
Year 3- Boy’s attend a day excursion to Whiteman park. Students participate in a cultural session and a conservation activity within the park. Students then head over to Cavesham Wildlife park where they will use the knowledge gained in previous sessions to learn about and interact with animals that they will see in future camps and programmes at Moray.
Year 4- Overnight campout at Scotch College. Students will learn how to cook damper and make a fire whilst being immersed in an Indigenous cultural session.Students will also create canvas art and learn about the 6 Noongar seasons. For some students it is their first night away from home and their first time putting up a tent.
Year 5- Students visit Moray for the first time on a 3 day (2 nights away) programme. Students build on their camping skills and exercise their problem solving skills through a variety of activities including:
- Amazing race
- Bushwalking
- Orienteering
- Rafting
- Cooking
- Camping
