Keys House Service Activities
For the Autumn 2020 term, Keys House engaged in two main activities.
The first was a Canned Food Drive which supported the Salvation Army. Over the course of two weeks, Keys boys bought in canned goods such as soups, canned fruits and vegetables and spaghetti, with the goal to be supporting the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen transition into the colder months. This is a particularly tough time period for the homeless. Keys collected over two large plastic tubs of cans which The Salvation Army collected in the final two weeks of the term. Every food drive that Keys participates in always ends in an abundance of food donations, and we look forward to continuing to support the Salvation Army in the years to come.
Our second activity was the Old Scotch Collegian Letters. This initiative was set up to remind Old Boys of their time at Scotch by researching them on the new Scotch Archive website and writing to them. Many Keys boys volunteered to participate, and we have sent off numerous letters. In such a unique and challenging time, reminding Old Scotch Collegians of the community they are a part of and allowing them to reflect on their time at Scotch was very important. It has been very pleasing to hear back from some of the Old Scotch Collegians, and their replies have given us incentive to keep this initiative going into next year.
