Academic Enrichment
At Scotch, we acknowledge that all students are entitled to rigorous, relevant and engaging learning opportunities that align with their individual needs. For boys of high academic ability, our Enrichment Leadership Team draw on the latest research in the field of gifted and talented education to offer academic enrichment via targeted, differentiated and innovative educational programmes. These programmes support boys of high ability to realise their potential and harness their many talents towards making a positive contribution to the global community. We acknowledge the following five key categories, as outlined by Professor Karen Rogers, for providing the most optimal learning environment for students of high academic ability:
- Daily challenge and talent development
- Independent work on areas of passion and interest
- Subject-based and grade-based extension and acceleration
- Curriculum differentiation with increased pace, depth and complexity
- Opportunities for learners to socialise and learn with like-ability peers
