Language Acquisition French
The Year 8 French programme is based around Phase 2 learners. On occasion, beginners are taught as Phase 1 within a more experienced class and encouraged to catch up within the existing topics.
Topics taught are: En ville, On fait des projets, De jour en jour (l’ école), Bon Appetit, En Voyage, and Ca va? . The course is structured around Tricolore Total 2.
Native speakers are encouraged to participate in class and are usually given time to follow the National Center for Distance Education (CNED) distance learning course, which can match the French national syllabus pace if needed. Alternatively work from 123 Soleil, our partner for background speakers can be done in class.
Assessment and reporting are ongoing throughout the year with the boys being formally assessed in the following criteria twice per year:
Criterion A – Comprehending spoken and visual text (Listening)
Criterion B – Comprehending written and visual text (Reading)
Criterion C – Communicating in response to spoken text (Speaking)
Criterion D – Using language in written form (Writing)
