Drama
The Year 10 Drama Course will take students on an interactive journey of creativity and exploration of artistic theatre practices both historical and contemporary. Students will develop a range of techniques in actor training, while focusing on collaborative devising skills, physical theatre and experimentation with forms and styles. The semester course consists of four units where students will be practically and physically engaged in their investigation of important issues in contemporary society, the human condition and what it means to be of the world:
- Group Devised Performance
- Physical Theatre
- Scripted Performance
- Costume Design
There is a strong emphasis on teaching the creative habits of mind using drama processes; through collaborative workshops, rehearsal, performance, production design and reflection, students understand what it means to be adaptable, persistent, imaginative and collaborative.
Assessment tasks are based on the development of practical skills that result in the production of performance work.
The Drama course helps to prepare students for the ATAR and General Drama courses and the Standard Lever (SL) and Higher Level (HL) Diploma Theatre Courses in Years 11 and 12.
